April 13th, 2005 We have redesigned CEOExpressSelect so that everything that presently exists on the site is easier to find and use. We've also added some exciting *new* features. Many thanks to our testers who have been working hard the last few weeks, giving us valuable notes and ideas, we couldn't have done this without them. (Note: This is a long letter, but everything you need to know about the new site is here, so I would really appreciate your reading the whole thing, because all the answers to your questions are below :-) The New Features: Many new and improved CEOExpressSelect features can be found by clicking on the "" icon. This icon will open a "layer" on top of your homepage - small windows with enhanced functions. These include: Time Zone Clocks: (A crowd favorite) Select 4 cities from our list to customize your Time Zone clocks to your needs. You can choose to keep the time zone layer open at all times. Scratch Pad: Add a quick "reminder" note to your Scratch Pad without ever leaving the homepage. Alternate Email: Click here for quick access to alternate email accounts, including Hotmail, Yahoo, and AOL. Travel and Marketplace: Use these to search for flights on Expedia, or books on Amazon. Access additional travel sites, as well as our Marketplace. Multi-Search: Search 50+ search engines without ever leaving your homepage. Verticals/Destinations: This is a complete menu of all of our Industry, Research, and CEO@Home pages. Calculator/Tools: Click here for a variety of tools and calculators, including reference search, and loan and conversion calculators. (we'll be adding more soon) Alerts: Click here for occasional alerts about new features and changes, as well as an archive of CEOExpress monthly newsletters. RSS News Center: View all headlines in a dropdown menu for all five of your custom ticker news feeds here, or go directly to your full, customizable RSS News Center. Weather: This layer opens a five-day forecast for your home city, or use the provided menu to display a forecast for any of your travel cities. CEOExpress Corporate: Here you'll find information on CEOExpress Corporate, our Private Label Portal product. New Customizable Search Boxes! (We just LOVE this feature!) Fully Customizable Search Toolbar: Now, *all four* search boxes in your navy toolbar are customizable. Simply click "Edit My Toolbar" (on the left hand end of the thin grey strip above the Toolbar) to select four search engines from our search engine directory. You can set up search boxes for anything from Answers.com, to Amazon, to SEC Search, to the Movie Database, to Google, to McKinsey Quarterly-and many more. By popular request, we have added Dogpile and other engines to the list. Select the four search engines you use most often to appear on your homepage. Decide you want different ones? Just click "Edit My Toolbar" to change your choices at any time. We will be adding to this list of search options over time. A Fifth -Search Box: In the center of the page, between the "Editor's Note" and the daily "Great Site," you'll see a fifth search box. Click "Change" to select a different/favorite search engine. This box should contain the search engine you use most frequently. You might be wondering..."So, why did they construct the page to include a fifth search engine? Well... The Collapsible Toolbar: Don't use the search boxes every minute? Collapse the entire Toolbar by clicking "- Hide my toolbar", and pull your personal links higher on the page. To open it again, just click "+ Show my Toolbar." The fifth search box, described above, guarantees that you'll always have your favorite search engine available, even if you choose to temporarily hide the search toolbar. Finance Center Flexibility: If you don't use your personal Finance Center, you are free to switch that box with another search engine. However, even if you deselect the Finance Center box, you can still turn your stock ticker on and off using the "My Stock Ticker" link in the thin grey strip above the Toolbar. (Please note: The Toolbar is the only place that the Finance Center exists. If you do use the Finance Center, portfolios, etc, please be sure to select it as one of your four boxes. If you turn it off-accidentally or on purpose- you can turn it back on at any time.) TA-DA! Now you can search CEOExpress links & YOUR Personal Links: Your default search box options now include "CEOX/Personal Links." Using this search box you can search for links on CEOExpress, including your Personal Links, as well as past "Great Sites" and Editor's Notes. Looking for a Statistics site you saw on CEOExpress once? Enter "stats" in the CEOX/Personal Links search, and you'll be provided with a list of ten links on the CEOExpress homepage, and four from the Great Sites archive. Coming Relatively Soon (within the next six months) More Personal Links Categories-yes, we have heard you. We want more too: See "Coming Sooner" below for an interim fix in the meantime. Simplified Personal Links editing capabilities Ability to share your links with others An RSS section on home page (as a optional feature for news hounds with broadband connections) Business Directory and Blog Directory Coming Sooner (within 6-8 weeks) More Personal Links: First, we have already added search the capability where you can quickly find that personal link you are looking for. In addition, we are shortly going to allow you to add up to 20 more additional Personal Links to each of your nine categories, and will also give you the ability to create Subcategory headings within your personal categories. As you can see, we use subcategories extensively within CEOExpress proper as a great way to further organize information. As you use this new look, you may encounter some features that are not so new, but that you have missed in the past. If you have not already, please spend a few minutes viewing our Feature Demos, so you know exactly what CEOExpressSelect has to offer. Please note: The new CEOExpress is optimized to work with any 1024 x 768 and above in all browsers and operating systems. The site will work with 800 x 600, but we *highly* recommend that your increase your resolution for the best viewing. (To change: Control Panel > Settings > Display) Take some time to get acquainted with the new site, everything is so easy to find now, it shouldn't take long. Please refer to the New Look FAQs (in the upper left hand corner of the page) for additional information on new features, as well as recommendations for using the new site with Zone Alarm, JavaScript, and more. Whenever you have a question or a suggestion, or encounter a problem, use the provided Feedback form, by clicking "Contact Us" in the upper left hand corner of your new desktop. Is everything you need easily accessible? Is anything missing? Does everything work properly? Are you confused by anything? What would make things more clear? If you love the new site, and just want to tell us, we want to know that. (Especially that. :-) As we mentioned in the March newsletter, every CEOExpressSelect member will be able to give a free subscription for one year to a colleague.
