Note from the Executive Editor

Well, we are now well into the month of March and the hope of Spring is in the air. I know, because I saw the Tommy Bahama Hawaiian shirts in the windows at Macy's. Here in freezing Boston, that is our only sign of Spring, but we won't be wearing boots much longer, and that is a "good thing" (in honor of Martha's release from prison).

March New and Notable:
A New and Improved CEOExpress.com is Coming Soon! We are going to be launching a new and improved version of CEOExpress in April. Don't worry, we aren't "ruining it" :-), it's just a (we think) terrific, incremental improvement. We have decided to take advantage of using the entire screen for display, which gives a cleaner look to CEOExpress that we think you'll like. We'll be giving you a preview in a couple weeks.

    A CELEBRATION!!
We're Celebrating our new look AND our 9th birthday in April!

CEOExpress was born in April 1996. It started as just a static page of my favorite links, and has grown into one of the largest communities of executives on the Internet. In our April newsletter, we will be sending you the best offer ever:

Every CEOExpressSelect member will be able to give a FREE year of CEOExpressSelect to a colleague.

No strings, no credit card required-just a gift from you to them.

Why are we doing this? We want to grow our membership and we feel that once your colleagues use the site for a year, they will also become our long-time members. 2005 is going to be a major year for CEOExpress with lots of new features, forums, a member business directory, blogs and greater community interaction. What better way of building up our executive members-only club, than by asking our members to give an absolutely no-strings-attached gift to a colleague? So, start thinking about someone who you really think would enjoy joining our great group. I want to grow with those who can contribute, and I know that you all have at least one friend (or more) that fits the bill. (Yes, those of you who frequent the forum can offer a membership to your non-member sparring partners :-)
March's "Did you know we had this feature":
We have now added the ability for you to add your own RSS feeds to your RSS News Center in addition to the ones we have in the directory. Just click on "Add RSS Feed" and then click "Add It." Within the next month, I am also going to create a list of "Patricia's Favorite RSS Feeds." We will mark my personal favorites in the RSS directory with a star. These will be some of the more obscure, but incredibly useful RSS feeds that I have found and treasure (like one that pulls together daily news from China from the Chinese perspective). There are RSS feeds for every vertical and subject. Just look for the small orange graphic , on any site that interests you and add it to your RSS center. Every morning, just click on your CEOExpress RSS News center and all the news will come to you. See demos of how to capture RSS feeds and how to use the RSS Center.

March Software Tips:
Great free photo software from Google: Good ole Google has launched fabulous new photo management software called Picassa2. I have been using it for a month now; it is remarkably easy to use and can make your photos look like they were taken by a pro. Download it and play with your photos-take my word for it, you will love it! (You can also begin to see how Google is expanding its universe and how the Google/Yahoo competition is turning into a real horserace.)

Answers.com Search Engine: This is not so much a software tip as a new search engine tip. Formerly a paid subscription site, Answers.com is now FREE! This search engine is very different from the others out there in that it gives your specific information from a huge number of databases. For instance, you put in the question "Where is Jakarta?" and rather than a million possible links like Google, you will get a long scrolling page on everything you ever wanted to know about Jakarta-it's like you have a full time research assistant. I'm not kidding-try it. (BTW, we have added it as one of the default engines on CEOExpress Multi Search. Click here for a refresher on how to use Multi Search.)

Speaking of Multi Search... with the incremental redesign of CEOExpress, we are going to be allowing you to choose more of your own search engines to display on your home page in place of the default ones. For instance, you might choose to have Google and Answers.com as your engines. Or maybe you would prefer Yahoo and Vivisimo or MSN. The choice will be yours and you can change them as often as you want.

As usual, feel free to send me a note. I truly enjoy hearing from you.

Best regards,
