Note From the Executive Editor

As usual, our June newsletter is devoted to a number of great features and tips, including the new and improved CEOExpress Mobile site, a great software tool called Mindjet, enhancements to the CEO Scratch Pad and better search capabilities on CEOExpress.

June New and Notable:
The best PDA site on the Internet! Do you know that as a member of CEOExpressSelect you have free access to CEOExpress Mobile, the best wireless handheld site on the Internet? From daily news and weather, airline status and WiFi directories, to hotel and restaurant guides, your custom wireless site will become essential to your work and play. It may even make it unnecessary for you to carry around your laptop when you add wireless "My Docs Online" document management.

How many purported "PDA sites" have you found that provide links to sites that are not PDA-friendly? The mobile version of CEOExpress is preloaded with the most comprehensive list of PDA-friendly business and personal sites on the Internet. Last week, we completely updated the CEOExpress Mobile site with a host of new and great websites available for PDA, phone, or Blackberry viewing. Don't forget to click the "More" link after each category see how you can turn on additional links, remove those you don't need, or even add your own personal links. CEOExpress Mobile can be fully customized to your specific needs-from either your desktop or your handheld. I normally customize my site from my desktop and then have incredible access to information when sitting in an airport or waiting for a meeting to start.

To view a functional demo of CEOExpress Mobile, as it will appear on your handheld device, click here. To customize and access Mobile on a daily basis, from your PC or handheld, go to http://pda.ceoexpress.com. And be sure to read the CEO Scratch Pad update below for more exciting PDA news!

Great additions to the CEO Scratch Pad: We continue to get great reviews and suggestions on the CEO Scratch Pad, and this month we are announcing two great new features. (If you need a Scratch Pad refresher, click here for a demo.) First, we have added the ability to schedule weekly, monthly and yearly events to your notes along with the ability to be notified prior to the event (e.g.: a pop up reminder two days before your son's birthday). Simply use the "Schedule Note" and "Days in advance" dropdown menus when creating or editing a note.

In addition, we have integrated the Scratch Pad feature with your browser based handheld device-your phone, PDA or Blackberry. All the notes that you post to your desktop are now instantly available on your handheld when you access the Internet via your handheld. You just need to go to http://pda.ceoexpress.com where you will see a link to "Notes" on the home page. You can customize this page via your handheld device or on your desktop. You can even add a note via your handheld and set it to pop up or flag you on your desktop. The notes are searchable and set in an easy to read format. I have been using this feature for a while now on my Sprint PCS phone and have found it very useful. Yesterday, when my wait in the doctor's office went much longer than anticipated, I flipped open my phone, and was able to look at my "Today" projects and send reminders to my desktop computer – all while sitting in a waiting room. If you have an assistant he or she can post notes to your Scratch Pad, which you will later be able to pull up on your handheld. It is remarkably easy.

To see just how simple it is to use this feature, click here. As usual, we appreciate your feedback. If you have any problems, or suggestions, or just want to let us know what you think, please use the CEOExpress Mobile feedback form to contact us. Be sure to include your device information, and let us know if you would be willing to help with testing in the future.

June's "Did you know we had this feature?": Did you know that you can open each link on CEOExpress in a new window or set up your preferences to have each site stay within the same window? Did you know that you can set up your page so that certain sections will remain open and others remain closed? Well, you can. Just go to "Custom Configure Your Page" in the upper left corner of the site and you will find these features and a whole host of options to make CEOExpress work most effectively for you. And, although I have said it many times, I'll say it again - make certain you also use "One Click" to customize your page. It works wonderfully well and the members who use it rave about it.

Improved Searching on CEOExpress: You may have noticed that the search engine search box on CEOExpress has changed. We now let you choose your search engine to be displayed on your CEOExpress homepage. The settings default to Google, but just click the link that says "Change" and you can choose from a variety of engines. Included are the original CEOExpress Clustering Engine, as well as a fabulous engine called "Vivisimo," a clustering engine that I believe is superior to Google. In addition, we have provided our Multi-Search "Command Cheat Sheet" on the home page. Finally, if you haven't already tried Multi-Search, do it now. And don't forget to install Multi-Search in your Outlook. It is an invaluable tool that you won't be able to live without.

Ad-Free Log-in Page: Just a reminder about a feature we added last month. If you're travelling or just want to avoid the banner and pop-under ads on the public CEOExpress, go to http://www.ceoexpress.com/login for our preferred member login page. If you sign in to your personal desktop each day, be sure to set this page as your homepage.
June's Software Tip:
Mind Mapping software: My tip for this month is the fabulous Mind Mapping software called "Mindjet." I use this software everyday, and every person I have introduced to it has bought it-every single one. I would suggest that you download it immediately and try the 21-day free trial. It is very easy to use and you can be up and started in minutes. I love the "brainstorming mode" that allows you to just toss out ideas and then organize them in seconds. Another great feature is the ability to take your mind map and instantly convert it to a webpage. I used this feature last week when I did a talk in Philadelphia and wanted to post all the sites that I had talked about, organized by topic, for my audience's future reference. See the example. You can also export to Excel, Word and PowerPoint. At $199, it is a real buy. There is also a plug in for Pocket PC and Palm handhelds. Seriously, try this software, you will be hooked.

Summer Newsletter: I know you want to think about work about as much as I do this summer, but there are more tips and tricks on the way. There will be one newsletter to cover July and August. In the meantime, go to the beach!

Have a safe and happy 4th of July, from everyone at CEOExpress.

As usual, feel free to send me a note. I truly enjoy hearing from you.
