Rick, he is an example of the me first, pseudo patriots, chickenhawks who cheat on their taxes, and let others do their fighting for them. They say they love their country, but they love themselves before country or family.

It was just a matter of time before you, Ebenezer Scrooge, opened his jaundiced mouth to complain about us, the great unwashed!

You people make the rules that benefit only you and tell the rest of us to go eat cake. Too greedy and stupid to invest in your own country.

You should spend more time reading and attempting to understand rather than trying to attack other posters. I identified where the spending problem is: DEFENSE. Until we heed Eisenhower's advice and rein in the military-industrial complex we need more revenue.

"Instead of protesting 'tax cuts for the rich,' why doesn't everyone try to become rich? "

1. Exclusive club. Rich people start out rich and connected, just look at the story of the Velveeta Raccoon.

2. Like politics, its just too expensive to just run, no matter how good, how skilled you are. Being rich, to start out with capital means you have backers, credit, collateral or you could spend a life-time building up a business only to be bought out by your far richer competitors.

3. Start ups - even the giants in ethanol production needed subsidies, the rich in professional sports clubs needed subsidies, the rich today use tax shelters off shore to become rich.

4. Why should the rich and famous skirt their duty to serve in combat, to serve in public service, What is it that Gates and Buffett are giving back to society with the fortunes they have been gifted with?

5. Look at Trump. Trump wants to be President to help Trump not the nation. Trump is a paranoid who hates the media for holding him accountable and who hates SNL for making fun of his failures.

6. "Instead of tearing others down, lift yourself up."

Please tell you didn't just tell people to lift themselves up by their own bootstraps.

"None of us got where we are solely by pulling ourselves up by our bootstraps. We got here because somebody - a parent, a teacher, an Ivy League crony or a few nuns - bent down and helped us pick up our boots. Thurgood Marshall"

"We the People" are the ones getting fleeced by a extremely greedy, wealthy and narcissistic entitled minority. This isn't "government of the people". This is, IMO, a few trying to extract every cent from the rest of us because to them, we don't matter.

It is spending; not revenue. But, don't let facts get in the way of your opinion.

Outstanding question.

I find it curious that many here find a desire to hold onto as much of your income/wealth as being greedy; while not finding those that want to take the earnings of others for their own use as not greedy.

There is no doubt that there are folks that need help; and, society should help them. However, God (whoever, whatever that concept means) helps those that help themselves (and, I don't think that means helping themselves to others labor/earnings). Unfortunately, there are too many that do not really need help; just looking for a hand-out (and this is just not the poor). Not interested in supporting anything/anyone that thinks they should be entitled. But, the progressive left has feed these folks for a long time with "promises" they cannot write the checks for - so let's butcher the golden geese.

Basically, financial pen!s envy. Very tiresome. Rather than strive to grow the pie; let's make damn sure it shrinks (8 years of basically less than 2% growth; and, when a quarter showed more than 2% grow - it was always downgraded after all the facts were in compared to the current growth, which has been upgraded several quarters after facts were in - let me see - stagnant - get used to it or 3+% growth).

I admire your attempt to bring reason back to the forum.

What is everyone going to do when the top 1% own 90% of the money, the country is bankrupt because revenues continue to be so low that the deficit increases every year, and the rich take their money and seek a tax haven?
The US needs income equality if our consumer economy is going to prosper. The US needs to stop spending as much on defense as the next ten nations combined if our consumer economy is going to prosper. The US needs to provide health care for all if our consumer economy is going to prosper because that will reduce health care costs and improve productivity. The US needs to become heavily invested in green technology before China controls the market if our consumer economy is going to prosper.

Rick, anybody who can post "In my opinion, the behavior that would solve most of our problems is a return to character and integrity. Doing the right things when no one is looking." and support trump is too big a hypocrite to listen or logic.
