It is clear why trump and his supporters believe in Fake News because they attempt to use Fake News to support their false beliefs on abortion, and most recently, on Roy Moore. A woman falsely claimed to The Washington Post that Roy Moore, the Republican U.S. Senate candidate in Alabama, impregnated her as a teenager. In a series of interviews over two weeks, the woman shared a dramatic story about an alleged sexual relationship with Moore in 1992 that led to an abortion when she was 15. During the interviews, she repeatedly pressed Post reporters to give their opinions on the effects that her claims could have on Moore’s candidacy if she went public. The Post did not publish an article based on her unsubstantiated account. When Post reporters confronted her with inconsistencies in her story and an Internet posting that raised doubts about her motivations, she insisted that she was not working with any organization that targets journalists. However, she was seen going into Project Veritas. James O’Keefe, the founder of Project Veritas who was convicted of a misdemeanor in 2010 for using a fake identity to enter a federal building during a previous sting, declined to answer questions about the woman outside the Project Veritas office, a storefront in Mamaroneck, N.Y., on Monday morning shortly after the woman walked inside.

A very stupid story that only the WAPO would repeat.

"News" organizations build stories to influence public opinion. Many, such as the Robb can't tell the difference, and are perfect targets.

Yes, it was a dishonest and stupid attempt by Project Veritas to discredit the allegations against Roy Moore. It was the same tactic used by Project Veritas against Planned Parenthood. Use false identities to gain appointments and take secret videos which you then heavily edit and take out of context to prove your false point.
The GOP has moved, lock, stock and barrel into their alternative facts universe. They are now only concerned with their fake news base even though a majority of Americans did not vote for the bone spur guy, and do not support their partisan views and policies.

President Donald Trump donated to an agency with a history of trying to take down liberal organizations, an agency that is now accused of trying to dupe the Washington Post with a fake Roy Moore claim in an undercover operation.
The newspaper found out that a woman was lying after contacting reporters with a false claim that she'd become pregnant after having sex with Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore when she was a teenage girl. She claimed he then took her to get an abortion.
Reporters and researchers for The Post traced the woman back to Project Veritas, a controversial group known for its undercover "sting" operations that often target liberal ideals or groups. The organization has been behind controversial and edited videos that have targeted CNN and Planned Parenthood.
