Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi do their anti-American act and refuse a temporary budget to prevent the government from shutting down. Democrats are saying either you heed our demands or we’ll shutdown the government. We have an underlying problem with federal spending and you have people talking about new infrastructure programs, family leave and free college. These programs will destroy the civil society. There was a time when taxes were used to pay the political costs of government. Now the left(Democrats) uses taxes to pay for left wing experiments and redistribution. If the debt is left unchecked, eventually it will be unable to be controlled and will be much larger than the US economy. The debt, federal expenditures on entitlements, like DACA, and student loans will consume the economy. This will doom America’s children and grandchildren if not dealt with. These fights over tax cuts and budgets are going to get worse and worse. It is not chiseled in stone that American society will be here

So since you are so concerned about the deficit you oppose the GOP tax cuts that benefit the rich and corporations and balloon the deficit another $2 trillion?

Yeah, I keep scratching my head about the deficit and the republicans (former) obsession with the increasing deficit. Where are the deficit hawks of old?

There was a suggestion yesterday to put a "hard stop" in the law, that if the wildly optimistic growth numbers don't happen and the deficit increases even more, that the entire plan would suddenly stop. I'm not kidding. A "trigger" that would reverse all the tax cuts.

"The Senate is planning to vote on its tax bill as soon as Thursday, and Corker is promising it will contain an as-yet unseen measure reversing the tax cut if the GOP’s projections about the bill’s impact on the debt turn out to be too rosy in future years."

Here are the Republican Deficit Hawks and their positions: https://www.politico.com/interactives/2017/tax-bill-senate-house-hurdles/

I saw that. Pixie dust to give Corker cover for voting for it. More Pixie dust that there will be a fix for Senator Collins who is concerned about the removal of the health care mandate.
The GOP has become totally gutless and unable to stand up to trump.

This is from Bloomberg news: Major companies including Cisco Systems Inc., Pfizer Inc. and Coca-Cola Co. say they’ll turn over most gains from proposed corporate tax cuts to their shareholders, undercutting President Donald Trump’s promise that his plan will create jobs and boost wages for the middle class.

D Robb,
The economy has been growing at a rate closer to what President Donald Trump said he would achieve than what many economic forecasters thought was likely.

Your post is good the next buy is Cisco to make money. 24k watch is on.

"Democrats are saying either you heed our demands or we’ll shutdown the government."

Scott,

when Cruz and the Tea Party Republicans last SHUT DOWN the government you and the usual suspects blamed Obama for shutting down that government, not congress. Now you have flip-flopped and again want to blame the Democrat minority instead of the egotistical bully in the White House.

NO thought has gone into a responsible strategy over the budget. Only one strategy the Republicans agree on is MORE for Defense, cut the social programs on the neediest American civilians. Kinda like give Hurricane aid to the Republican governors of Texas and Florida and ignore the American civilians in Puerto Rico.

"We have an underlying problem with federal spending and you have people talking about new infrastructure programs, family leave and free college."

So the Federal Government is to subsidize and protect global American investment through military means over protecting and caring for American citizens here at home? Sounds like someone got it backwards.

"These fights over tax cuts and budgets are going to get worse and worse"

All the more reason they should not be RUSHED THROUGH at the last minute but rather debated and discussed all options explored all facts like CONSEQUENCES on the table and time enough spent to pick the best options possible.
