TBS' ‘Snowpiercer' Trailer: Jennifer Connelly and Daveed Diggs Go Off the Rails (Video)
TBS dropped the first footage of its hotly anticipated "Snowpiercer" series during the show's panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday: a trailer featuring stars Jennifer Connelly and Daveed Diggs as adversaries in this off-the-rails, post-apocalyptic thriller.Fans can get a glimpse of just how much of a wreck this bonkers train is in the video above. The series, which has already been renewed for a second season, is an adaptation of the 2014 Bong Joon-Ho film of the same name starring Chris Evans and Tilda Swinton. Set seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland, the series centers on the humanity's survivors, who inhabit a gigantic, perpetually-moving train circling the globe. Also Read: 'Westworld' Season 3 Trailer: Dolores Is Still Fighting Humans, Maeve Is Now Fighting Nazis (Video)Slated for a Spring 2020 premiere on TBS, the project has overcome a number of development stumbles, including a contentious showrunner swap, extensive reshoots and a move from its original home at TNT.Josh Friedman wrote the pilot and was set to serve as showrunner, but was replaced by "Orphan Black" co-creator Graeme Manson last year, a decision the network attributed to creative differences. ‘The Orville' Moves From Fox to Hulu for Season 3
Seth MacFarlane's "The Orville" is beaming over from Fox to Hulu for its upcoming third season. The sci-fi series' creator and star shared the news himself during the show's panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, revealing Season 3 will launch on the streaming service as a Hulu original in late 2020.An individual with knowledge of the "Star Trek"-esque show's move from Fox to Hulu told TheWrap that "Orville" studio 20th Century Fox Television and MacFarlane worked closely with the broadcast network and streaming service to make the shift happen, as Fox had already renewed the series for Season 3 back in May.Also Read: 'Westworld' Season 3 Trailer: Dolores Is Still Fighting Humans, Maeve Is Now Fighting Nazis (Video)Another insider close to the situation said that MacFarlane's current work schedule would make it difficult to complete new episodes of "The Orville" — which he writes, produces, directs, edits and stars on — in time to make its intended mid-season,. Moving the show to Hulu, where its repeats currently stream, would allow him to bring it back "more loosely," the insider said."‘The Orville' has been a labor of love for me, and there are two companies which have supported that vision in a big way: 20th Century Fox Television, where I've had a deal since the start of my career, and Fox Broadcasting Company, now Fox Entertainment, which has been my broadcast home for over 20 years," MacFarlane said in a statement. ‘Game of Thrones' Actors Gwendoline Christie, Alfie Allen and Carice Van Houten Submitted Themselves for Emmys
"Game of Thrones" actors Gwendoline Christie, Alfie Allen and Carice Van Houten each had to submit themselves for Emmy nominations, as HBO and the show producers did not, a person with knowledge of the process told TheWrap.Christie plays Brienne of Tarth, Allen plays Theon Greyjoy and Van Houten plays Melisandre."GoT" has roughly 30 series regulars, which is a lot, even for an ensemble cast. Why not just submit them all? Well, it's not the submission fee, which is like $225 — it's strategy. Networks and shows worry that multiple submissions in the same category will essentially "cancel out" their candidates. Also Read: 15 Emmy Records That Were Broken by the 2019 Nominations, From 'Game of Thrones' to Ted DansonIt is not unusual for a personal rep to submit their client for awards consideration if the producers and network do not — what is rare is the success rate here.In case you were wondering, yes, HBO will pay for Christine, Allen and Van Houten to attend the Emmys, the same as any other nominee."Game of Thrones" drew a record 32 nominations on Tuesday, breaking "NYPD Blue's" 25-year record for the most nominations for a single season. San Diego Comic-Con 2019 Schedule: Here Are All the Must-See Panels and Screenings
Following a preview night filled with screenings and scares, San Diego Comic-Con 2019 kicks off its four-day, pop-culture-packed programming lineup on Thursday.Marvel Studios is sure to be the stand out of the 50th anniversary of the world's most-famous fan convention — which runs July 17-21 — with a Saturday night Hall H panel laying out the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe after "Avengers: Endgame" and "Spider-Man: Far From Home." It's not only a splashy return to San Diego a year after skipping SDCC entirely — the appearance will also see Marvel own the day on the movies front, thanks to Warner Bros.' decision not to hold their usual two hour film panel that traditionally kicked off Saturdays in Hall H.On the small-screen side, HBO is the belle of the ball — also returning to the San Diego Convention Center after a year off — with Hall H panels for "Westworld," "His Dark Materials," and a final one for "Game of Thrones." Plus, the network is holding what it calls "a surprise in-world opportunity" for its upcoming "Watchmen" series somewhere in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter, details TBA.Also Read: 'Game of Thrones' Creators No Longer Attending HBO Series' Farewell Comic-Con PanelSee highlights from the Comic-Con 2019 schedule below.
