Dow sheds more than 300 points, while Nasdaq ends lower by 2%
Stocks finished lower on Thursday as fears of a slowdown in global growth and higher bond yields continued to dampen appetite for risk assets. The S&P 500 fell 1.4% to end around 2,769, according to preliminary figures. The Dow Jones Industrial Average skidded around 327 points, or 1.3%, to near 25,379. The Nasdaq Composite ended lower by 2.1% to around 7,485. The tech-heavy Nasdaq turned lower for the week. China's stock markets fell to four-year lows amid concerns of slowing growth and a weakening yuan. The minutes on Wednesday from the September's Federal Reserve meeting showed most Fed officials were in favor of raising rates into "restrictive territory."
