The Federal government currently does not collect sufficient revenue to cover its expenditures. We should be raising taxes not cutting them. At the same time we need to look at the only budget categories that are large enough to make a difference: entitlements (Social Security and Medicare) and defense.
Cutting the State Department and Social Programs may be satisfying to trumpites but they accomplish nothing. It is bringing coffee to work in a thermos instead of taking a break during the day and buying it.

People don't want their taxes raised. I'm sure you understand that - but I don't think you grok what it means... it means they do not want to spend their resources on the things government is buying with them.

That being the case... do we stop buying them - or do we just raise taxes and force people to buy even more... against their will?

So you and I have a simple difference of opinion. You want people to be forced to spend more on what they don't want. I want to stop the federal government from buying things citizens do not want.

There is really no more to it... except to say that people created government expressly for a strong common defense and the general welfare. General welfare means that every dime spent should benefit every single American equally. It doesn't mean to make all Americans equal.
