Portals for all platforms
Narrowband portals to the Internet may be struggling, but the future looks bright for their broadband counterparts. It comes as no surprise, then, that a host of cable companies, operators of wireline and wireless networks, owners of narrowband portals, and mass-media groups (including digital-TV broadcasters) are vying to establish more than 100 mobile, 30 PC, and a handful of interactive-TV portals in Europe, adding to the 200-odd narrowband ones already available. Which of these many contenders are likely to succeed?

The take-away: This article advises broadband portal developers about how to secure their position on their native platforms while preparing to compete successfully in the multiplatform environment of the future.
