Yemen's Houthi movement launched an attack on Abha civilian airport in southern Saudi Arabia on Sunday that killed one person and wounded 21 others, the Saudi-led coalition battling the group in Yemen said. Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV earlier said that the Iran-aligned movement had targeted Abha and Jizan airports in the south of the kingdom with drones attacks. "A terrorist attack by the Iran-backed Houthi militia targeted Abha airport, killing a Syrian resident and wounding 21 civilians," the coalition said in a statement carried on Saudi state television.

Oregon Republican Party mocks armed militia threat, despite capitol building being closed due to armed militia threat
Oregon's Republican Party appears to have made light of right-wing threats made against politicians in the state stemming from opposition to planned climate change legislation.Oregon's state capitol was forced to close at the weekend due to a "possible militia threat" against legislators.On Sunday the Oregon GOP Twitter account posted a photograph of peaceful protesters at the building."Heavily armed militia lays siege to Oregon's Capitol as Senate Democrats cower in fear," the party tweeted, apparently mocking the threats of harm to politicians.Democrats in the coastal state are hoping to pass landmark climate legislation which would dramatically reduce fossil fuel emissions in Oregon by 2050.But the bill has stalled after Republican lawmakers walked out of the legislature in an attempt to deny the Democrats, the majority party, enough votes to proceed.Several fled the state to avoid the vote, leading Kate Brown, the governor, to order police officers to track them down.Under the proposed law, Oregon would put an overall limit on greenhouse gas emissions and auction off pollution "allowances".Those opposed to the plan say it would exacerbate a growing divide between the liberal and urban parts of Oregon.The state Democrats have a majority of 18 to 12, but require a quorum of 20 to proceed.The bill has already passed the state House.A group of local Republicans were set to protest inside the C

Ethiopia says military chief killed, regional coup failed
Ethiopia's military chief was shot to death by his bodyguard amid a failed coup attempt against a regional government north of the capital, Addis Ababa, the prime minister said Sunday. The abortive coup Saturday in the Amhara region was led by a high-ranking military officer and others in the armed forces, said Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, who addressed the nation on state TV at 2 a.m. while wearing fatigues. Pompeo heads to Saudi Arabia, UAE for Iran crisis talks
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Sunday he will visit Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates for talks on the crisis sparked by Iran's downing an American drone. "We'll be talking with them about how to make sure that we are all strategically aligned and how we can build out a global coalition" on Iran, he said.
