 ABCJimmy Kimmel just made history. On Thursday, the late-night host was as surprised as anyone else when his name was brought up during Donald Trump's criminal hush-money trial, which had him feeling "very excited, I'm very proud, I'm exhilarated even," as he told Thursday's audience.
"From here on, we aren't just following the Donald Trump drama in New York, we are part of it now," said Kimmel of his unexpected name check. "We are part of the official record of The People vs. Donald Trump."
Kimmel explained that Thursday's biggest "surprise bombshell, at least for us, was when prosecutors entered into evidence a series of text messages about our show."

But while the trial on Tuesday served as a primer, Thursday showed how even now—nearly eight years after these Trump deals were put into place—a key player still couldn't come to grips with reality over exactly what he did.

The move came after Trump got slapped with $9,000 in fines and a warning of a potential stay in the slammer on Tuesday, then had to fend off the risk of an additional $4,000 in penalties Thursday morning.
After a trial lunch break, the former president's legal team approached New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan with a curious request: If Trump keeps getting into hot water for sharing news stories about the trial but still theoretically has a First Amendment right to speak about the case in general terms, would the judge be willing to review and OK posts before he makes them?
