Fauci Is Honest and Competent—so Naturally, Trump Hates Him
There's a scene in the film The Death of Stalin, where Stalin suffers a cerebral hemorrhage, and Nikita Khrushchev suggests calling a doctor, but Lazar Kaganovich observes a Catch-22: "The best doctors are in the gulag or dead, so any doctor still in Moscow is not a good doctor."

Donald Trump has a good doctor in Anthony Fauci, but he is trying to assassinate his character and sideline him. Eventually, there will be no good people left who are willing to advise Trump—and fewer still who will have the guts to save him from himself.

Just as Li Wenliang, the Chinese doctor who tried to warn about the dangers of coronavirus, was punished and humiliated (before dying of the virus), Trump also has created a culture that figuratively murders the messenger and rewards the executioner.

Seth Meyers Roasts Trump for Wearing a Face Mask ‘4 Months Late'
NBCOf all the reasons Donald Trump has refused to wear a mask in public in the four-plus months since the COVID-19 pandemic began in the U.S., high on the list must be fear of ridicule. That would explain why the few times he has supposedly worn a mask off-camera, he's bragged about how good he looks and compared himself to the Lone Ranger.

On Monday night, his worst nightmare came true.

After making his first-ever public appearance in a mask at Walter Reed Hospital over the weekend, Trump was mercilessly mocked Monday night by Late Night host Seth Meyers.

Top Trump Ally Preps a New Assault on Fauci
Alex Wong/GettyAs Donald Trump and his press secretary sought to downplay the White House's own effort to scapegoat Dr. Anthony Fauci, top allies to the president spent Monday working on ways to discredit the nation's leading infectious-diseases expert even more.

Stephen Moore, a conservative economist who informally advises Trump on economic matters, said on Monday evening that he is working on a new policy memo that would "go after Fauci," not just for the doctor's proclamations on the still-raging coronavirus pandemic, but for his decades of work for the U.S. government prior to the current crisis.

"We are working on a memo that shows how many times Dr. Fauci's been wrong during not just [this pandemic], but during his entire career," Moore told The Daily Beast, adding that he and his team at the Committee to Unleash Prosperity had been working on it for weeks. Moore, whose failures at political and economic prognostication are routine grist for his critics, added that he and his group intend to send their final product to the White House and Trump and to "publicize it," once ready.

Disney World Reopens with Short Lines and Scared Staff, as Florida COVID-19 Cases Spike
REUTERS/Gregg NewtonTake a gander at any of the public social media groups for enthusiasts of Orlando, Florida's Walt Disney World and you'll find a common refrain: the theme park, which reopened on Friday amid a COVID-19 catastrophe, has super-short lines for all its top roller coasters right now.

Disney World closed in mid-March, when COVID-19 cases began sweeping the country. Then on Friday, the same day Florida reported its largest single-day increase in the virus and the first day the U.S. reported more than 70,000 cases, Disney World reopened its gates.

The reopening also comes one day after unionized Disney staff lobbied, unsuccessfully for COVID-19 testing. The result, say Disney megafans who visited on reopening day, is a weirdly empty park.
