 Apple has announced iOS 26, and the upcoming software update includes a long list of new features and changes for iPhones.

Apple's new macOS Tahoe is first defined by its "Liquid Glass" design aesthetic, a new universal design language, that I think hearkens back to Windows 10 and earlier versions of Windows operating systems. But beyond look and feel, there are practical elements, like the Spotlight search bar that understands what's on your Mac and taps into local intelligence to find what you want. There are also shortcuts or macros to help you complete tasks, and a phone application that looks as rich as what Microsoft offers. There's even a rudimentary Game Bar.
I much prefer Windows over macOS, and have used Windows and Android products for decades. Nonetheless, there have been a few times that I've been impressed with what Apple has accomplished—the Apple Watch integration with iOS, for example. There's a level of polish and integration here that I think Microsoft should pay attention to.
If I had to sum it up: What I use on a day-to-day basis on Windows feels like a rough draft. What Apple showed off at WWDC seems more like the final product.

 iOS 26 suggests that Apple is indeed working on a new version of the AirPods Pro that could be coming in the not too distant future. Code in ?iOS 26? discovered by MacRumors contributor Steve Moser references the "AirPods Pro 3" alongside the "?AirPods Pro?" and the "?AirPods Pro? 2."

 Throughout the 2000s and 2010s, Apple offered a line of Wi-Fi routers that it referred to as AirPort base stations. There was a standard AirPort Express, a higher-end AirPort Extreme with more advanced networking features, and an AirPort Time Capsule that doubled as an external storage drive for backing up a Mac with Time Machine.

Google is once again crossing the great divide between rival tech giants, at least with artificial intelligence. The company has launched a dedicated iPad app for its Gemini AI assistant. In addition to natively running on Apple hardware, Gemini's iPad app can take advantage of the tablet's split view, so that the AI assistant is open on the screen at the same time as another program for easier use. The app is available today from the App Store in all countries where Gemini is currently available.
Gemini has been a huge focus for Google's recent announcements as it works to put its service in front of more and more potential users. iPhones got their first native Gemini app last November. The company recently introduced a program for children to explore the AI assistant and it opened the Deep Research capability to all Gemini users.
