This award-winning Corsair keyboard is an even better deal today

Amazon is selling the K70 Core, with the included wrist rest that usually demands an extra $10, for just $79.99. That's about the best deal you can find for a full-sized gaming keyboard with great switches and some interior sound dampening for satisfying typing. Naturally it includes RGB lighting and custom software compatibility, too.

Corsair's custom MLX Red (linear and speedy) switches really are the star here, but be aware that as a budget model the K70 Core doesn't let you swap them out. The fixed USB cable is also a bit of a bummer, making it harder to organize your cables quickly. That said, this really is the best deal you're going to find for a large gaming board from a major supplier.

Amazon says it's a "limited time deal," so who knows how long it'll stick around. Hop on it fast if you're interested.

Explore Starfield's barren planets at 60 fps on Xbox Series X starting this month
Starfield, the excellent Digipick puzzle game surrounded by 80 hours of sci-fi mediocrity, is getting a performance update on Xbox Series X that unlocks frame rates above 30 fps. Starfield's May update adds the option to target 30 fps, 40 fps, 60 fps or an uncapped frame rate — for displays that support VRR running at 120hz. Displays without VRR will have the choice of 30 fps or 60 fps.

The May update also includes the ability to prioritize visuals or performance at each frame rate target. Visuals mode means the game will do its best to maintain a high resolution and full detail in lighting, special effects and NPCs, while performance lowers the resolution and clarity of those same details. Of course, both modes adjust the game's base resolution alongside heavy on-screen action.

Bethesda recommends performance mode when playing at 60 fps and above. For Xbox Series X players with 120hz VRR displays, Starfield's settings now default to 40 fps, prioritizing visuals.

The May 1 display updates bring the Xbox Series X version of Starfield closer to its PC counterpart in terms of customization options. The Xbox Series S edition remains capped at 30 fps. This is the version I played when I reviewed Starfield last year, and while a frame rate upgrade won't make the game less bland, its combat scenes would definitely benefit from a boost to 40 fps, at least. It's a shame that the most popular Xbox Series console isn't seeing any frame rate love in today's update.

This $450 Dell 2-in-1 laptop is ready for work and play (35% off)

The Dell Inspiron 14 comes equipped with an AMD Ryzen 5 7530U CPU, 8GB of RAM, and 512GB of SSD storage. That's more than enough juice for day-to-day tasks, office work, coursework, and so on. The 14-inch touch display has a resolution if 1920×1200, a productivity-friendly aspect ratio of 16:10, and a refresh rate of 60Hz. The taller aspect ratio makes it easier to scroll through web pages and whatnot. This is no gaming laptop, but that hardware combination is great for watching videos, surfing the web, and getting work done. In addition to the nice display, it also has upwards-firing speakers, a backlit keyboard, and a fingerprint reader.

This is a really good deal, but it's on clearance, which means stock is likely selling out fast. Don't miss your chance.

The European Union is investigating Meta's election policies
The EU has officially opened a significant investigation into Meta for its alleged failures to remove election disinformation. While the European Commission's statement doesn't explicitly mention Russia, Meta confirmed to Engadget the EU probe targets the country's Doppelganger campaign, an online disinformation operation pushing pro-Kremlin propaganda.

Bloomberg's sources also said the probe was focused on the Russian disinformation operation, describing it as a series of "attempts to replicate the appearance of traditional news sources while churning out content that is favorable to Russian President Vladimir Putin's policies."

The investigation comes a day after France said 27 of the EU's 29 member states had been targeted by pro-Russian online propaganda ahead of European parliamentary elections in June. On Monday, France's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Jean-Noel Barrot urged social platforms to block websites "participating in a foreign interference operation."

Best free password managers 2024: Online security doesn't have to cost a thing

While paid password managers offer nice extras, a free password manager still protects you from the risks of using weak passwords (or worse, using the same one everywhere). Instead of remembering all of your passwords, you just have to remember one password to access a single, secure place where all of the rest are stored.

And because free password managers come in different flavors and styles, you should be able to find one that fits your needs. Even Google's password manager, built into Chrome and Android, can work as a no-cost option with a nifty Windows tie-in. Plus, if you find that the free versions aren't enough, down the road you can always upgrade to a paid service as your needs grow.
