Windows 11 24H2 marks the official death of WordPad along with several other features that have been removed in the update. (The 24H2 update is currently being rolled out. Learn more about when you'll get it in our article breaking down its release schedule.)
You'll likely be better off switching to other free apps such as LibreOffice, but it just won't be the same. If you find that you still prefer WordPad and want to keep using it, here's a method you can use.
How to get WordPad back in Windows 11
It's not that difficult to bring WordPad back to Windows 11. All you need is the appropriate files from an older version of Windows before 24H2, one that still supports WordPad. (The folder for WordPad should still be present in 24H2 but without wordpad.exe.)
