Best Buy seems to be closing out this particular model, the HP Omnibook 5 Flip, as we've seen it go on sale several times in the last couple of months. But that doesn't mean it's a bad deal. The processor in particular, a 10-core model with speeds of up to 5.4Ghz, is particularly zippy for anything in this price range. Ditto for extras like the touchscreen (1080p) and IR camera for face-scanning logins, and 512GB of storage is about average at this price.
But the 16GB of DDR5 RAM is not average, it's generous for $550. And it's essential — I wouldn't buy a modern Windows 11 machine with any less, especially considering how crucial and memory-hungry modern browser are. The 2-in-1 (Yoga-style) hinge, double USB-C and USB-A, and full-sized HDMI ports would also be handy for a student or anyone who travels frequently, and the 68-watt-hour battery is pretty good for its 3.64-pound (1.65 kilogram) weight.
There's no time limit on this deal at the moment, but again, I wouldn't be surprised to see it pop up again at Best Buy in a few weeks. If this isn't to your liking, be sure to check out PCWorld's picks for the best laptops on the market.
